All over the world, cancer represents a major issue for public health, being the second cause of death, after cardiovascular diseases.
Even if, the cancer represents on omnious diagnosis for many of us, equal with death, we have to know that there are many available treatments which can assure the cure of cancer. The main condition to obtain this is to detect, recognize and treat the disease in the earlier stages.
In advanced stages the treatment can prolonge the survival and eventually to offer a better quality of life.
In Romania due to ignorance, fear, lack of sanitary education and the presence of an increasing number of illusion-feeders that have a strong impact on media, presentation to physician is done in advanced stages when the treatment is very expensive, agresive and involves o lot of suffering for the patient and his family.
It’s time to change something! Because every life is important we have to change the individual’s mentality, the health policy and our attitude versus the disease and those who are suffering from it.
According to these things Romanian Cancer League launches the following programs:

Breast cancer represents the first death cause provoked to female sex with a frequence rate of 56.84/100000 and a rate of mortality of 39.28/100000.
Due to ignorance, fear, lack of sanitary education and of public awareness of the already existing screening programmes, the diagnosis of cancer occurs only in the advanced stages of the disease, when the treatment is often optional and also very expensive for the society as well as for the individual.

Actually, the modern chemotherapy treatments permit to obtain cures in high percentage. Another category of cancer for child are solid tumors which occur initially in a localized area, and then produce distant metastasis in vital organs causing the death.
The more frequent solid tumours in children are : brain tumours, specific tumours of childhood (nephroblastoma or Wilms tumour, neuroblastoma and retinoblastoma), sarcoma of the bones or with others localisation.
In brain tumours, the therapeutic results are modest. In the other mentionated cancers, the modern therapeutic strategies led to unexpected, percentage of cure. Child’s specific tumours in early stages are curable in 80%-90% percentage. It must be stressed that in Romania the treatments are similar with those in Occident .The correct diagnosis represent essential premise of cure.
The nutrition represemnts a critical factor for our health.
An unhealthy nutrition can be a risk factor for many oncological diseases.
Romanian Cancer League presents “Advice to Individuals” presented in the report, The Nutrition and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective.
Based analysis of more than 4500 research studies, these guidelines present currently available advices on actions to take for lower cancer risk.
The information were provided by the American Institute of Cancer,
Patients diagnosed with cancer require a number of services during the evolution of their disease.
Like a consequence of the disease, the treatment and rehabilitation, the patients may require concrete services such as hospitalization care, medical assistance at home, medical equipment, financial support, transportation, information and counseling.
These needs occur as a result of medical assistance system’s requests, bureaucracy, financial limits and due to emotional problems experienced by patients and their families during the course of the disease. If these necessities cannot be accomplished, the patients are not able to face the intensive therapeutic regimens and show a lower moral, failing to return to a normal activity and lifestyle after an acute episode of disease
The program is addressed to these patients and it seeks to form support group for patients and theirs families.
